July 12, 2022 — TheStrathroy Middlesex General Hospital(SMGH) has adoptedMolli— a precise, easy-to-use new technology forbreast cancer localization. Recently, an SMGH team participated in its first breast-conserving surgical procedure using Molli. SMGH is the first hospital in the southwest Ontario region to use this technology.
Molli Surgical’s Health Canada-approved and FDA-cleared Molli features the Molli Marker — the smallest localization marker on the market — and is designed to give a better patient experience over traditional wire localization. TheMolli Wanddetects the marker and visualizes its location on a tablet, helping surgeons locate lesions more efficiently with improved accuracy. Molli is also a great benefit for patients as it allows for more convenient scheduling of marker placement.
“Molli is an innovative and revolutionary way of localizing breast masses that cannot be felt. It allows for a less painful and more effective way of finding the breast disease that needs to be removed, during surgery,” saysDr.
“Congratulations to the team at SMGH and Molli Surgical for bringing this innovative, precision technology to our community — and for the difference it will make for Strathroy patients and for their families,” saidJoanne Vanderheyden, Mayor ofStrathroy-Caradoc.
