Cardio-oncology

This channel includes news and new technology innovations about cardio oncology, the subspeciality of monitoring, preventing and treating cardiovascular damage caused by cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Chemo and radiation can damage or kill cardiac muscle cells, which can result in reduced cardiac pumping capacity. The speciality of cardio-oncology monitors cardiac performance with a baseline echocardiogram and followup imaging during treatments to ensure the heart is not damaged.

Preliminary findings include a 15% relative CVD risk reduction within eight weeks
